About Project PACE:


Project PACE is a small animal farm located in Ile-Bizard that promotes permaculture (sustainable agriculture) and environmental education. We offer interactive and immersive farm tours,  predominantly for families with kids, where participants have an opportunity to interact with farm animals up close.

Farm Tour Guide (Contract, Part-Time)


Role overview: 


We are seeking a part-time contractor for the position of Farm Tour Guide to provide engaging and educational tours of our farm to visitors. This position requires daytime availability during weekends and some weekdays. The ideal candidate should be bilingual, love the outdoors, be comfortable with free-range animals, and enjoy working with people. This position runs from mid-May to the end of October, with the possibility of renewing for the winter season (starting mid-December).This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to supplement an existing part-time job, is currently in school, and/or prefers a flexible work schedule. 


Responsibilities:

  • Provide tours of the farm to visitors (up to 30 visitors per tour)

  • Facilitate feeding of and interaction with the animals

  • Share knowledge and information about the animals and farm life

  • Answer visitors' questions about the farm and its operations

  • Ensure the safety of visitors and animals


Requirements:

  • Bilingual (spoken) in English and French

  • A passion for nature, animals, and the outdoors

  • Social, friendly, engaging, and energetic person 

  • Availability during weekends and some weekdays 

  • Has reliable transportation to and from the farm 

  • Comfortable in a farm environment (mud, uneven terrain, insects, etc.)

  • Comfortable working with people of all ages

  • Comfortable with the fact that our animals are free-range


Schedule:

  • The position runs from mid-May until the end of October

  • Availability during weekends and some weekdays during the day


Compensation:

  • This position is paid at $17/hour.

Farmer (Contract, Part-Time)


Role overview: 


We are seeking a part-time contractor for the position of Farmer to take care of our farm animals and to provide support during farm tours. This position requires daytime availability during weekends and some weekdays. The ideal candidate should be bilingual, love the outdoors, be comfortable with free-range animals, and enjoy working with animals and people. Physical strength is needed for certain tasks such as lifting mobile chicken coops, bags of grains, water buckets and bails of hay.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care for a variety of farm animals. This includes feeding, watering, and monitoring animal health and behaviour and reporting anything out of the usual to farm directors.

  • Maintain clean and safe living conditions for animals by regularly cleaning barns.

  • Participate in farm tours of the farm and ensure the safety of visitors and animals during tours.


Requirements:

  • Bilingual (spoken) in English and French

  • A passion for nature, animals, and the outdoors

  • Availability during weekends and some weekdays 

  • Has reliable transportation to and from the farm 

  • Comfortable in a farm environment (mud, uneven terrain, insects, etc.)

  • Comfortable working with people of all ages

  • Comfortable with the fact that our animals are free-range

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team


Schedule:

  • The position runs year-round

  • Availability during weekends and some weekdays during the day


Compensation:

  • This position is paid at $17/hour.
